Will our society ever truly know how many underlying situations are rapidly taking over the world, or will we wait to address them after they have already taken over our lives? Every day hundreds of millions of objects and souls are transported and sold between countries and people. These terrible deals include the exchange of drugs, animals, weapons and, most atrociously, human beings. Human trafficking is a growing situation that objectifies and hinders rights and free will to experience life. With the information gathered, it is known that human trafficking is becoming the second most trafficked commodity in the world after drugs. Human beings, who share the same flesh as you and me, have their souls stolen and their personalities stripped away as they become the property of another who bleeds our own blood. The master minds behind the deception of luring victims often use many different or even combined tactics to hook their prey. Traffickers use physical and psychological methods to leave the victim with no choice but to fall into the traffickers' trap. Some of these devious mechanisms include threatening the victim's family, threatening the victim's life, stealing legal documents such as passports, and false promises of a loving relationship, better job, and new opportunities. Rebecca Bender had moved into her boyfriend's house after only dating him for six months. Shortly after, he started beating her. “I met my trafficker at a party near campus and he started dating me, pretending to be my boyfriend for six months. He lured me away with false promises, pretending to be my boyfriend, when in reality that was never his intention," Bender said.
