Family is a strong bond that cannot be broken. In "The Key to My Father," by Harlen Coban, the main character develops a mental image of his father who is uncool, unfit, and does what he can to provide for his family. Marc sees his father as a hard-working man who believes family comes first, but he realizes that his father is unhappy. Marc searches for clues where he tries to find evidence to develop emotions towards his father by being proud, curious and sad towards him. Marc is proud of his father for helping him understand the importance of family. Throughout the essay, Marc talks about how his father has no friends, dresses in bad taste, but realizes that he does what he can to improve his life.
