Discuss the fundamental value of protection of rights over respect for the law. Provide examples to support your claims It is very important in our current Canadian society that the rights of individuals are respected, but at the same time so is the law. My belief is that our current society does a mediocre job of upholding the rights of individuals under the law in some cases. Our government's reputation is one of loyalty, honesty and integrity; sometimes it seems like the government doesn't live up to its name. Within our society, members of law enforcement are critically trained to ensure that they do not violate someone's rights while maintaining law and order within society. If a civil rights act has occurred, it is investigated, there are times when an individual is appropriately punished and there are also situations where they are not. In Canada there are allegations that the civil rights of individuals are being violated while the law is being upheld. No case involving a violation of human rights under the law is ignored. Each case is evaluated according to its priority and final decisions are reached. My conclusion is that cases involving the protection of individual rights in accordance with the law are all investigated according to the rules. Unfortunately, at the end of this process some situations are not assessed properly, this shows society that respecting the law is more important. Governments, groups and societies must ensure that protecting rights receives the same attention as respecting the law. It is crucial that this happens because it will result in a just and justifiable system, which will benefit society. The law enforcement agencies of the UN countries... in the middle of the paper... will not resist even a little. and Victoria Police used excessive amounts of force. Once this incident was investigated, the police members involved in this incident were not punished at all. The chief, in fact, said he praised them for their work, given that the job of a police officer is not always easy. Clearly the Victorian Police Force believes that enforcing the law is more important than individual freedoms. This is a critical issue and must be addressed, as the job of the police is to protect the rights of individuals, but at the same time enforce the law. Victoria Police failed to protect and/or consider Tyler's rights in the situation discussed above, but they did not fail to enforce the law. Judicial authorities must learn the fundamental value of protecting the rights of individuals and at the same time upholding the law to the best of their ability.
