“It's another school and another group of people who reject me.” I thought as I slowly walked towards the classroom door. With each step the classroom door got closer and closer. The light weight of my book bag suddenly felt heavier. I finally got to the door and opened it; revealing the large room that would be my home room for the rest of the year. The moment I entered the room, it was obvious that I was different. The first thing that made me realize it was my clothes. I was wearing a bright red Lil Wayne Trukfit T-shirt, black 501 Levis, and black Nike Air Max 95 shoes, not to mention the fact that I was the only African American in the room. The second thing was that everyone was in uniform. I felt so out of place. "What happens?" I said, handing the teacher my slip. “My name is Johnny Taylor, but people call me Jody.” “Sit anywhere, uh Jody,” the teacher said as he looked me up and down. I found a seat at the back of the classroom behind a brunette. He turned and looked at me just like the teacher did. On the surface I was exactly the opposite of her. He had brown hair; I had black hair. He had blue eyes; mine were green. "I'm Gwen Walker." She smiled. “Uh, I'm Johnny, but people call me Jody.” He turned back to focus on the teacher. The teacher sat there and I felt uncomfortable and didn't know what to do, so I took a pen and drew in my notebook. Something that looked like a sound wave began to take shape on the cover of my notebook. "Ok class, see you all tomorrow and good luck on your first day at Huckleberry High School." said the teacher. The bell rang right after he said that. I was the first out, but Gwen caught up with me. What do you think of Mr. Taylor's lesson?" he asked. “I don't know? Nothing really happens... middle of paper... Greg angrily said, "You and me after school in the gym." I started to laugh "Okay, are you sure you want to do this" I said reluctantly. Greg just bumped into me and went back to his table, and I went back to the table with the girls. "I see you've made a new friend." , Gwen said. “No,” I replied, “that guy is real idiot." ""What happened?" Amy had asked. "No big deal, he just wants to fight me after school because he thinks I'm trying to date Gwen." I replied, is it true? I mean, that's a crazy thing to say,” Gwen said while stuttering. I started to get the feeling that Gwen liked me, but before I could ask the doorbell had rung. As I was walking down the hall, I reached for my book bag to get my schedule. Before I could even open it, Greg arrived and knocked it out of my hands. “Don't be an after-school punk!” I shouted.
