These two poems are similar and different in their own ways. The Shepherd Passionate to His Love and The Nymphs Answer the Shepherd both try to mirror each other in the structure of the poems. Both Christopher Marlowe and Sir Walter Raleigh had a very unique way of writing and making these poems so similar, but bringing in different types of love and points of view. The Passionate Shepherd to his Love and The Nymphs Reply to the Shepherd are both four-line stanzas. . They are both also pastoral, which means they respond to each other. The Nymph responds to the Shepherd by saying that he doesn't actually love her saying that his love is false. Both writers have used flock of sheep in both these poems. In the poem The Shepherd Passionate for His Love the shepherd says "And we will stand on the rock / We will see the shepherds feed their flocks." Then in The Nymph's response to the shepherd she tells him "Time leads the flocks from the field to the fold". The love the shepherd has for her is not true love, it is more a feeling of lust.
