Topic > Paying College Athletes - 630

Students attending college should not be paid to play sports. People go to college to get an education, not to get rich. The college experience itself is priceless. If the college pays players in one sport, it will have to pay players in all sports. Scholarships already fund the education of individuals. What else is needed? This world will have more athletes than doctors if students get paid to play college sports. If they are good at a sport and want to get paid for it, then they can go professional. College athletes are now starting to complain about not getting paid to play the sport they love. When people use college athletes to make video games and other materials for profit, the company should be the one paying them and not the college. Companies looking to make money off star athletes only want a particular player, not the entire team or in every sport. College is not the place to get rich. College is the place to learn, get an education, and succeed. Paying a particular player will not be fair to other players. Choosing a particular player and sport will also cause tension with other sports such as football, tennis, volleyball, basketball and all other sports offered by universities. Athletes say they are good at what they do and need to be recognized for their talent. If a great athlete is recognized by a college and wants him to play for their team, that athlete already gets a free education and more. Colleges do not allow students to play sports if the athlete does not meet college standards. So the athlete they chose to play for them must have excellent grades. If athletes have excellent grade point averages and good ACT scores, then… middle of the paper… you know in life. The world cannot operate and function properly if half the people in the world become athletes and so on. All the scholarships and free tuition are great. But when it comes to paying athletes to play a non-professional sport in college, you reach the limit. The state is already complaining that they are broke. There are numerous ways to spend money wisely rather than paying college athletes. We must also think of the students who have not had the opportunity to receive aid to pay for their education. Also equipping the college with new technology and advanced equipment, so that all students can have the experience they need before entering the real world. This way students can be prepared to face any challenge that life throws at them. Knowing that they have worked hard for what they have become and will appreciate the accessories and experience that come with it.
