Chapter OneThe sun was shining right in John's face as he ran his 2 miles for the day in Dessert. John was sent back to dessert for six months after making Tech. John was in his fourth month of his mission and was more than ready to return home to his loving wife Maddie. He finished his run and went back to his room to take a cold shower. He would have taken a hot shower, but it was already hot outside. John got out of the shower and decided to try contacting his wife Maddie. He tried a few times, but was unsuccessful, so he went to bed and waited to get up to go to work. John was in the Air Force and did maintenance work. He really didn't like his job, but he thought we had to start somewhere. He was doing the fuel tanking, a job he told many who wanted to join the Air Force not to do. His work was hard and he was tired of smelling like fuel. The clock struck five in the morning and John was trying to hit the snooze button to get a few more minutes of rest. He knew he had to get up, so he got up from the hard bed and went to the bathroom. He glanced at his computer to find a message from Maddie. By then he was wide awake and ran to the computer to read what she had written. “Dear John, I always think of you and I hope you think of me too. I'm sorry I missed your call. I was visiting my mother in hospital and didn't get home until very late. I didn't want to wake you up, so I wrote you this letter. I love you and miss you, stay safe until we kiss again. Kisses and hugs. Love, Maddie Wells John was smiling from ear to ear with excitement. He was so happy that he could hear his wife even though they weren't talking face to face in the... center of the paper... for two, because he thought maybe John would. he actually shows up and surprises her. John was sitting on the next row of roses looking at Maddie. She didn't notice him at first, but then when she turned to her right she saw his face. John was sitting there smiling and holding a black box. Maddie looked at the box and gave John a huge smile. “I take it you want to renew our vows?” “Yeah, I thought this would be the perfect place. I mean, after acting like an idiot for a while. Maddie put on the new ring and gave John a huge hug. He told her he wanted to make sure her month off was special. Maddie she was just happy that John was okay and that they were spending the day together in the Garden of Love where they first met. Walking hand in hand through the garden was a special moment that neither of them will ever forget.
