It is said that a country with a history of wars is usually a country that is impoverished today. Since 2000, countries with organized violence are those whose poverty level is double that of non-violent countries ("Causes of Poverty"). A large population and poor economy can also be inherited from a country's past. Countries that do not have rich resources such as oil or clean water are usually poor countries because without natural resources and clean water it is difficult to promote trade with other countries or develop a sustainable economy from certain resources.
