Cassatt implicitly uses to create organic forms such as the large boat and oar that the man is using. The dress the woman wears and the child's clothing are both covered in implicit line patterns. Lines are implied where areas of color meet, such as the white edge of the boat touching the blue water and the figures sitting on the yellow benches of the boat. Cassatt and Fragonard both used implied lines to draw people, which create an implied mass of figures; this in my eyes gives life to people. The boat in Cassatt's painting has an implied mass and this makes the viewer feel as if they can jump straight into the boat; gives the painting a sense of reality. Fragonard uses implicit lines to draw all the bushes, trees and statues. We can also see implicit lines in Fragonard's paintings where areas of color meet, for example when the man in the bottom left corner is lying on the green bush and also how the man in the back blends into the dark shadows of
