Topic > The positive and negative aspects of life in Jamaica

“Jamaica is a country characterized by great dichotomies. On the one hand there is a tourist industry with great beaches and resorts, but on the other hand there is such great poverty and the violence that comes with it.” (Michael Franti) In this article I will talk about the geography, history of Jamaica, the people who live there now and who lived there in the past, the lifestyle of society and society, such as the government and the economy. Geography Jamaica's climate is warm and sunny. Its range is from 75 degrees Fahrenheit to 85 degrees during the day and 65 degrees at night. They also have northeasterly winds that keep everyone from getting too hot. This geography has greatly influenced the activities of everyday Jamaicans. Its rainy months are from May to November. About 78 inches of rain falls in Jamaica per year. The territory of Jamaica was formed about twenty-five million years ago. It was made up of two tectonic plates. The dishes were American and Caribbean. Jamaica does not have regular seasons like ours. They have seasons based on the amount of rain they get. Hurricane season runs from June to November. When a hurricane comes through, the winds blow between 100 and 200 miles per hour. So it can also cover about 50-500 miles and can last several days. There are five categories of hurricanes; number one is 74 to 95 miles per hour, number two is 96 to 110 miles per hour, number three is 111 miles per hour, number four is 131 to 155 miles per hour, and the worst of all, number five, is more than 155 miles per hour. History The first inhabitants to come to Jamaica were the Arawaks. They arrived around 600 BC Approximately sixty to one hundred thousand people immigrated to Jamaica. While they were here they invented the......medium of paper......they are tourism, bauxite, textiles, and the food industry. Jamaica also produces a lot of agriculture, such as sugarcane, bananas, coffee, and citrus fruits. Jamaican healthcare is very poor. There is only one small hospital for each parish. There are about three dozen hospitals and clinics on the island, but most are unreliable due to violent crimes destroying the hospitals and most are overpopulated. For this reason, most people die at a young age. Conclusion In this article I have covered geography, history of lifestyle, people and society. Many different people have transformed the history and culture they have today. People in Jamaica live in small communities without much to live on. Their climate does not vary much and their seasons depend on rain. Although society is poor, people still find ways to live their lives to the fullest.
