What would you do if you had to sail to Troy from Ithica to fight in a war? In the story "The Odyssey", by Homer, Odysseus, the king of Ithica, travels to Troy to fight in the Trojan War. Because Odysseus is an intelligent, courageous, and sometimes arrogant man, he faces many scary situations, but manages to overcome them all. Odysseus had to face many astonishing situations. He is able to think quickly and make clever plans throughout the story. He and his men were trapped in a cave that belonged to the Cyclops, a man-eating giant. The Cyclops had a huge boulder that he used to block the entrance to the cave. Odysseus and his men found the cave while the Cyclops was in the fields with his sheep. While they were in the cave, the Cyclops returned and placed the boulder back at the entrance. He asked Ulysses what his name was. Ulysses told him that his name was Nobody. The Cyclops begins to get angry and eats two of Odysseus' men. The rest of his men want to band together and kill the Cyclopes, but Odysseus thought quickly and knew that if they killed him they wouldn't....
