The five ethical issues of psychology are "Confidentiality, Right of Withdrawal, Accurate Reporting, Informed Consent, and Voluntary Participation." An ethical strength present during this test was confidentiality. Participants were assigned a random number that was not shared with any other participants or the experimenter. The ethical strengths present in this experiment were the right of withdrawal and voluntary participation. When necessary, participants could withdraw from the test if they wished or not participate at all, this was made clear by the instructor before the test began. Another ethical strength of this investigation is the accuracy of the reporting; data results were entered into a computer by participants and checked to further ensure they were entered correctly. An ethical weakness of this investigation was informed consent. The experimenter explained the test to the participants, however there was some uncertainty about how to access the happiness score website, this weakness was addressed by recording the happiness scores on paper. There was also some hesitation from participants about how to calculate happiness scores.
