Atlantis, believed to have been literally swallowed by the sea, is a mysterious and advanced society that seems to have just disappeared. Although some say that Atlantis is a myth, there is reliable evidence that Atlantis is a myth, there is reliable evidence that Atlantis actually existed and is more than just a myth. The idea of this "disappeared city" first came from Plato, who began discussing this legendary civilization in 355 BC Atlantis was a powerful and somewhat greedy civilization founded by Poseidon (the god of the sea). They were very advanced for that time period (9000 years before Plato was born) or the Holoscenic era. Atlantis was also destroyed in this era. The manner of destruction varies greatly, but the most commonly accepted idea is that Atlantis was destroyed by a great flood because Poseidon was angry at what his people had become. Now, some believe that the whole concept of Atlantis is bogus and never existed. Despite some more exaggerated claims such as: “Poseidon destroyed the island because he was angry!” may not be true, there is enough evidence to conclude that this story is much more than a myth. Thesis: Atlantis not only fascinated Plato but also modern scholars who now consider it more than a myth due to its possible locations, plausible destruction, and physical evidence of this forgotten city. The proof of Atlantis lies in the very fact that various stories of different people all tell the same story. However, the first person who began to tell this story was Plato, a very learned man. Plato described the island as very detailed and grandiose. It was located on an island nearly 340 miles long from east to west. The present city of Atlantis covered a vast expanse of 300 miles. ...... middle of paper ......New Orleans is currently experiencing sea level rise that could lead to another sinking of New Orleans. Even if we hope not, the possibility is there. Furthermore, today's tsunamis can show how quickly destruction can occur when it comes to the huge ocean washing over the land. There are some theories and physical evidence that have been proven to be wrong or misleading. These erroneous results help naysayers say “see, we told you it doesn't exist!”. However, as with any science, there is a lot of trial and error before finding the correct answer. Atlantis is a city out there buried somewhere with its treasures still waiting to be discovered. Although there is still no definitive proof of the existence of Atlantis, given that 70% of the earth is covered by water, it would not be fair to think that in the future of this mysterious empire there may not be new discoveries.
