Redeployment, National Book Award winning author Phil Klay, is a powerful informational book about the Iraq War. It is made up of twelve incredible stories. The most memorable story for me is the title “Bodies”. The title caught my attention emotionally and logically. Giving meaning to life to adapt it to the civilized world is the main theme of the story, which I felt was a struggle to find a direction to continue living life and not just exist. Manipulation was another theme that made the process of connecting with people less stressful. Reading the story's title, "Bodies," I expected a horrifying, sickening war story with disturbing mental images of mutilated and decomposed bodies. However, deep inside me I longed for a scene where I could place myself and experience the grip of what soldiers are exposed to. Also, I expected to feel sad and goosebumps.
