Internet addiction refers to an individual's inability to control their Internet use, which in turn leads to feelings of distress and functional impairment of daily activities. (Douglas, 3) Why is cyber dependency in Singapore an important topic of interest? According to statistics, 74% of Singaporeans actually use social media platforms. With such high usage, people tend to form relationships online much more easily and frequently than before.
