Transformational leadership has central principles called the four “I's”. The idealized influence is charisma, which inspires admiration (Fisher, 2005). Being accountable, passionate about organizational goals, and being personally involved are examples of idealized influence (Fisher, 2005). Intellectual stimulation involves creative and innovative problem solving with employees/team members (Fisher, 2005). Individual Consideration is the leader's ability to know and treat employees/team members with respect, while Inspirational Motivation is the ability to build levels of trust in employees/team members and move them to action (Fisher, 2005). A simple internet search turned up examples of transformational leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who I feel no one can really compare to. It was interesting to see the others who showed up too, like Steve Jobs, Oprah and yes, even Katniss. Katniss isn't even a real person, however, the Hunger Games book series created a strong female character who embodies the principles of transformational leadership.
