Sexism is any idea that discriminates against gender and is often used against women. The character roles in Married with Children are sexist in many different ways. Some of these episodes contain scenes in which Peg Bundy is depicted as a typical housewife. Al Bundy doesn't want Peg to do tasks thought to be reserved only for men. Al Bundy believes that a woman's place is the home, unless she brings an income to the family. In one such episode of the program, Peg attempts to fix Al's car. When Peg is working on the project, Al displays obnoxious facial expressions and other displeased gestures. When she gets off work, Al signals her with a text, inviting her to come into their house. Peg displays facial expressions of emotional defeat and irritation that portray a woman's typical discrimination. The couple's two children portray the concept of sexism in the program Married with Children. Al's daughter Kelly asks and pleads for an unspecified request of her father, shown by the gesture of her holding her hand palm up in front of him. When Al rejects her, he maintains a rigid stance and then removes himself from the situation. After her father rejected her request, she went to look for a job. Kelly finds work in some stores advertising through the window in a bikini with a sign to attract buyers. When Al's son Bud tries to earn money from Al's wallet, he too is rejected. Bud then goes looking for work and gets a job repairing vehicles. The jobs the children get show how sexism is displayed in this program. Kelly's work shows how people are under the impression that females are only useful for their bodies, while Bud illustrates that males are better for manual labor, such as
