"Your intelligence can take you far in your life." In the poem The Odyssey, written by Homer, Odysseus was the main character. He was a young man looking for his home in Ithaca. By the end of his long journey, he had spent nearly twenty years searching for his family and friends. During the long journey, Odysseus shows how determined and extremely intelligent he can be by fighting through incredible things throughout the story. While in the land of the dead, Odysseus demonstrated his determination simply by going there. The Land of the Dead is a place where all souls go. The ghosts look exactly like they did when they died down there. Ulysses stood among the dead and made offerings to the prophet Tiresias. He is supposed to tell Odysseus his future. Ulysses stood among the ghosts, sword in hand. Those ghosts would do anything to get some of those offers, even kill. Ulysses also sees his mother. He doesn't approach her or speak to her.
