Introduction According to Merriam Webster's dictionary, addiction refers to the strong but harmful need to constantly have something or do something. As for addiction to cyber relationships, it is the addiction to “social networking, chat rooms, texting, and messaging to the point that online virtual friends become more important than real-life relationships with family and friends” (Ramdhonee 2014). Why is this topic of interest important? The main reason given is that the Internet has undoubtedly become part of our daily lives and has brought about a radical change in communication leading to relationship building. However, the effects of such online relationships range from positive to negative, so in the following literature review, we will examine the extent of the online relationship, the demographics affected by such addiction, as well as the reasons for falling into such addiction. .Literature ReviewThe extent of addiction to cyber relationships today.In research conducted by Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project, basic demographic data shows that more young adults use social media than older adults.
