The concept of contrast plays an important role in A Midsummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare. Shakespeare provides many examples of contrast by indicating it as a motif. Group contrasting ideas into those of some of the play's most important roles. Helena is portrayed tall and Hermia is short. Titania is a beautiful fairy who falls in love with Bottom, who is portrayed as ungainly. Furthermore, the main groups of characters also have differences. Fairies are graceful and magical creatures, but traders are clumsy and deadly. Furthermore, traders are always overjoyed while lovers are always serious with their emotions. Layers of contrast throughout the work, as examples are shown in almost every scene. Contrast becomes a constant and important motif in Shakespeare's dramaturgy. For emphasis, in Act III, the reader is introduced to the most striking contrast of the play, the relationship between Titania and Bottom. “What wakes me up from my flowery bed?” (III.i.131). Titania is awakened by Bottom's so-called melodic singing. In the current scene, both characters are under a particular type of spell. Titania's eyes were anointed with the nectar of the love flower, thus making her fall in love with the next living being she meets. Meanwhile, Puck played a prank on Bottom, turning his head into that of a donkey. Both characters in the play are portrayed as complete opposites. Titania, characterized as the beautiful and graceful fairy queen; Bottom is described as overly dramatic, self-centered and, at the time, not very attentive to the eyes. However, the nectar of love never fails and seems to drive the two into a state of lust. The contrast between the two is overwhelming. An important scene in the middle of the paper... of lust. All they see are the blurry people around them, the spell they are under makes them so strongly in love that they are unwilling to focus on their surroundings. Nothing will hinder their determination in love. The fuzzy beast-looking object resembles Bottom through Titania's eyes. Being an elegant creature (fairy), Titania would not become infatuated with a creature like Bottom and his donkey head. Instead, being drowned by reality with the love potion nullifies Titania's desire for physical attraction. The characters become too infatuated with the idea of ​​lust towards a specific person and fail to realize the reality. During Act III, the characters become lost in their personal reality and emotions. Lovers' vision becomes blurry and reality is not relevant, they only seek lust from the next blur they lay their eyes on.
