“Scientific data indicate the potential therapeutic value of cannaboid drugs, mainly THC, to relieve pain, control nausea and vomiting and stimulate appetite...” the study previously shown has proven that marijuana is a beneficial substance when used for medical purposes. Society as a whole overlooks the fact of how constructive this prescription can be, as it is still fixated on the idea that marijuana is a “harmful drug” and the multiple connotations that “weed” is involved with. Professors have studied the effects of marijuana and found that unwanted psychological distress occurs when this product is used. However, this is only a tiny side effect of this drug in the process of healing the patient's much larger affects. This has led me to believe that there are countless ways marijuana can impact the entire nation, such as lowering taxpayer rates resulting from marijuana prohibition, curing cancer, AIDS, and other terminal illnesses to reduce the amount of chemotherapy and other costly conduct, as well as as it has greatly increased government and state revenues. Jeffery Miron, an economics professor at Harvard University, has studied how legalizing and taxing marijuana would affect the deterioration of the economy. According to his article, “The Budgetary Implications of Marijuana Prohibition,” it was concluded that if marijuana were legalized, it would yield a projected profit of between $2.4 and $6.2 billion per year in taxes alone and would make an overall savings of approximately $7.7 billion in government spending. on the application of prohibitions; $2.4 billion at the federal level and $5.3 billion at the state and local levels. In 2011, 757,969 people were arrested for crimes related to...... half of paper ...... but for recreational purposes due to the increase in tax revenue the government would obtain, the lowering of tax rates of taxpayers and rates and effective treatment for an assortment of terminal illnesses and conditions. The points listed in this document verify and demonstrate that cannabis is more beneficial than harmful and should be legalized nationwide for the betterment of our nation as a whole. To conclude this piece, a certain point should be pondered and allowed to marinate in your mind: “The amount of money and legal energy that is given to prosecuting hundreds of thousands of Americans who get caught with a few ounces of marijuana in their jeans simply does not have sense - the kindest way to put it. A harsher way to put it is that it is an outrage, an imposition on basic civil liberties and the reasonable expenditure of social energy.” (William F. Buckley Jr.)
