Uganda is a presidential republic, where the President of Uganda is the head of state and head of government. The government decides what the rules are. Internet security is very free there and there are limited restrictions. They are currently trying to strengthen Internet security. You might wonder why Uganda would want to strengthen internet access? Well, the answer is simple. Hackers entered the prime minister's website and posted comments supporting gay rights. Which in fact the prime minister did not support at all. Furthermore, the fact that gay marriage was illegal drew a lot of criticism from the Ugandan public. In Uganda, forty-nine percent of people want access to the Internet without government involvement. Even though nearly half of Uganda's population doesn't want the government to censor things, they find themselves at the bottom of the pack when it comes to internet access. The fact that only half of people want non-government access says a lot, because it shows that the other half want the government to block things they don't support at all. In Uganda four point nine million people use the Internet, which is about fourteen percent of the population, which is not at the same level as other countries. Only 56% of the population is literate. No or very little internet security has been found in Uganda. Mainly anti-government websites were created in 2006 by the Uganda Communications Commission, also known as UCC. There are no government blocks except Facebook and Twitter in 2011 when opposition groups were created... middle of paper... Ganda has high speed internet because Google helps Ugandans. One of the reasons they use bars is that only 5% of Uganda has electricity, but if you had a generator to make electricity it would take a lot of money to run it. As well as power cuts that limit Ugandans to using the internet or anything that runs on electricity. In conclusion, Uganda has made great technological strides to expand access to the Internet. Uganda still faces many challenges, but this will change in the coming years. Mainly getting affordable and reliable internet access to all the people of Uganda. Uganda is an amazing place and will continue to expand its internet technology.
