IntroductionThe Cold War was a war between the two superpowers, the United States of America and the Soviet Union between 1947 and 1990. The United States was capitalist while the USSR was communist . Each superpower has fostered and supported its own ideology by attempting to spread it around the world to create a sphere of influence. These ideological differences then led to a war in which the superpower attempted to spread its own ideology or contain the opposing ideology through proxy wars, doctrines, and policies. This essay will argue in depth that it is correct to say that the Cold War was due to ideological differences. Both the United States and the Soviet Union each accused the opposing country of expanding its ideology into Europe and other parts of the world. The United States defended capitalism through the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the Iron Curtain concept, the Marshall Plan, and the Domino Theory. The USSR, however, supported communism in response to US charges of expansionism and opportunism and also developed the Warsaw Pact and a series of policies aimed at ensuring the spread of communism and the limitation of capitalism. There are other factors that contribute to the cause of the Cold War, such as the dictatorship and suspicious behavior of Josef Stalin, the insecurity of the USSR regarding a further attack as in the case of the Second World War and the need of the United States to keep open trade routes to parts of the world that might not have been done if that country had been communist. While these factors are viable, the Cold War was due to ideological differences as these other opinions also contain ideological aspects. For example, Stalin was suspicious of capitalism, and the United States needed trade routes to countries that were not communist. The U......at the heart of the document ......like the Marshall Plan to increase the influence of capitalism and the United States in countries that needed aid and economic recovery. In this way communism would be limited. On the other hand, the Soviet Union rejected the United States' plans and prevented Soviet bloc countries from accepting aid because they might fall under capitalism. Furthermore, the USSR accused the United States of using dollar diplomacy to increase the spread of capitalism. The Soviet Union expanded across Europe in what the United States called the domino theory. The Soviet Union also created foreign military policies to increase the armed forces in case of conflict with capitalist countries and to increase the influence of communism in Europe. The United States and the Soviet Union continually fought indirectly through a series of proxy wars, policies, and plans in order to weaken the opposing ideology and increase the expansion of their ideology..
