Cannibalism, non-consensual consumption of the bodily matter of another human being. There are no laws against cannibalism in the United States, but it violates laws against murder and desecration of corpses. Cannibalism is not considered a crime, but it is socially unacceptable. In some societies, especially tribes, cannibalism is a cultural norm. In most of the world cannibalism is not accepted. While cannibalism may be a controversial topic, few people know the psychology behind it. There have been solitary individuals who find eating people absolutely satisfying. They do it because they have fun, have psychopathic personalities, and are extremely lonely. Some cannibals are psychotic. There are other theories that suggest cannibalism is a sexual disorder and even an eating disorder. A common characteristic among many cannibals is that many of them have been diagnosed with schizophrenia or some other form of personality disorder. Cutting flesh is sexually arousing, according to cannibals. Feeling flesh has brought many delinquents to orgasm. The reason they enjoy removing the skin from the skeleton is that they want to feel powerful and capable of doing something that very few people have ever done. Even most serial killers don't eat their victims. So the cannibal is in class alone. This produces a euphoric state that activates the pleasure center in the brain. Each cut brings more positive feelings. So it is common to find many smaller cuts on the body. The process is so exciting. According to Hylen, no therapy or medication can cure an addicted cannibal because there is no known way to artificially instill empathy. A psychology professor at Capital University in... middle of paper... might be the only explanation. The jury deliberated for five hours and decided that Jeffrey Dahmer did not deserve to spend the rest of his life in a hospital, but in a prison cell. On all fifteen counts, Dahmer was found guilty and sane. He was sentenced to 15 consecutive life sentences or a total of 957 years in prison. In my opinion, I believe that Dahmer's case is considered sexual and ritual cannibalism. Jeffrey Dahmer had sex with the corpse; he also believed that when he consumed his victims, they spiritually became a part of them. They also believed that their cannibalism allowed them to absorb some of their attributes, such as power, which may be related to aggressive cannibalism. Although disease and religion have greatly reduced the practice, it continues to be practiced throughout the world. Criminal cannibalism has become the concern of the future.
