After touring the hotel, she sits down again and orders another Lipton iced tea.Traditional• The mother and daughter-in-law. Have a conversation that shows how close they are. This leads them to drink Red Label tea; followed by the daughter lovingly fixing her mother's hair. Why is it Western? There are multiple reasons why this advertisement can be considered a Western advertisement. These include the setting, the actions, the actors. • The setting of this film is a large hotel. Which is usually associated with modern culture. It is a place known to be connected to Western businessmen. • The setting also offers many luxuries that you wouldn't see in a more traditional commercial. This includes business suits instead of traditional suits. The design of the building is also very modern. It does not show the culture of the country or anything that could be considered traditional. Moving forward, the objects within the film are westernized. This can be seen through the clothing of the staff. They do not wear traditional clothes, which Japanese innkeepers should wear. Finally, the setting is also westernized due to the bedding displayed by the maids. The bedding shown is not what would be used on a traditional Japanese futon. • May also include food. The food prepared in the kitchen is more western and modern, rather than traditional. (Foods such as takoyaki and yokisoba were not shown.) The product itself was pre-packaged, whereas a traditional tea would have been brewed fresh.
