Three different themes can easily be found in the story "The Cask of Amontillado". One of the most important themes is revenge. During the process of revenge, the narrator's nature of betrayal and Fortunato's nature of pride were seen. The writer is trying to explain what revenge could lead to. Revenge is the act of hurting or getting someone in trouble because they have already done something wrong to a man. Nowadays, revenge is considered to have a negative impact on society. Many people are killed due to the revenge of others who have been hurt by them in the past, which means that people commit crimes out of revenge. In the story, Fortunato insults the narrator hurting the narrator's ego leading him to take revenge on Fortunato. To take revenge, the narrator makes a plan against Fortunato. In the given story, the narrator uses Fortunato's greatest strength as a weakness for revenge.
