Are school uniforms good or bad? Wearing the uniform does not prevent students from finding ways to style themselves. Uniforms were introduced in the United States around the year 1979 to solve the problem of violence among students fighting for the latest designer clothes. The uniform policy was actually implemented by President Clinton who wanted to end the problems of gang warfare. Statistical reports state that only 25% of primary schools and about 10% of secondary schools in the United States have strictly implemented the uniform policy. I believe students should wear uniforms because not everyone can afford the latest trends, there will be no discrimination and students can focus on learning instead of what others are wearing. It's the first day of school and you need to find the perfect outfit. It may not appeal to everyone because most people don't have a closet full of clothes or money to afford the latest trends. For this reason I believe students should wear uniform. The cost of uniforms is less than what a parent would pay for regular school clothing. Some parents can't afford to buy clothes every now and then. Parents will have to buy clothes for every day of the week, which is not cheap at all. This situation occurred at River Wood Elementary Memphis, TN, where a child came to school wearing the same clothes several days in a row. Too often, parents didn't use common sense about what was appropriate school attire for their children, but some didn't have the money to buy new clothes. "I have heard many times how much parents appreciate uniforms and one of their reasons is always to save money." by a school administrator. The cost of uniforms depends on size and age... half of paper... the nation among students and students will be able to focus on learning instead of what others are wearing. Uniforms create unity within a school, so if someone who shouldn't be there comes into the school they wouldn't be wearing a uniform, so it would be really easy to spot someone who shouldn't be there. Clothes provide a sense of identity with something greater than the individual.
