Born to wealthy and prominent parents, his father, Lord Randolph Churchill, was a leader of the Conservative Party and his mother, Lady Jennie Jerome Churchill, was an American heiress. It has been documented that his parents had little time for him, as his mother was a busy wife and stewardess; while his father, a brilliant scholar, was cold and distant, finding Winston a disappointment.
