In Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte Jane is an intelligent and witty young woman with various secrets and the sharing of these secrets signifies the intimacy of Jane's personal relationships because she shares all her secrets only with her people closest to her. Jane is an outcast from the Reeds and seeks peace by reading compelling lyrics in her hideout on the window seat. He keeps his window seat and books to himself, wishing not to interact with the Reeds. Additionally, Jane hides many, but not all of her secrets from St. John Rivers because Jane is absolutely not sure she wants to be close to St. John. Ultimately, Jane breaks down her walls and shares everything with Mr. Rochester, showing him that she loves him, totally and unconditionally. Releasing and sharing secrets is how people know when they are in an intimate relationship because they have nothing left to hide.
