The Boston Marathon is an annual marathon hosted by several cities in Greater Boston in eastern Massachusetts. It is always held on Patriot's Day, the third Monday in April. Started in 1897, the Boston Marathon is the world's oldest annual marathon and is considered the world's most famous road racing event (“Boston Bombing,” n.d.). But on April 15, 2013, the marathon entered history for something else. At approximately 2:49 a.m. EST, two pressure cooker bombs struck near the marathon finish line, resulting in three deaths and one hundred and forty-one injuries. Among the injured, twelve are said to be in critical condition. The victims, treated in eight different hospitals, were just two years old (Lev, 2013). The suspects, the brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, involved the authorities in a violent finale that took place four days after the attack and only one day later did the FBI release images from the surveillance cameras of two young men suspected of having planted explosives in pressure cookers at the marathon finish line (Lindsay & Sullivan, 2013). During the night of violence, which began Thursday and continued into Friday, the brothers killed an MIT police officer, seriously injured another lawman, and threw explosives at police in a desperate escape attempt (Lindsay & Sullivan, 2013). Tamerlan, the older of the two suspects died that day, while the search for Dzhokhar was still active (Lindsay & Sullivan, 2013). However, later that Friday evening, they tracked down the 19-year-old college student. He was hiding in a boat after being weakened by a gunshot wound (Lindsay & Sullivan, 2013). A law enforcement source told CNN that the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing were “collateral damage in a strike intended as revenge for the US wars in the MSL… mid-paper… appears to ignore the commitment to preserve the values of the broader social context and, in fact, allows their violation; it is their ideological beliefs that fuel and justify their activity (Shechory & Laufer, 2008). Furthermore, it was shown that bonding with a delinquent person increases delinquency and that the younger brother had an attachment to his brother, which already exemplified the weakening of social bonds, making it much easier for Dzhokhar to follow his brother. Conclusion In conclusion, Hirschi's social concept Bond theory can be applied and used to describe the actions of the Boston bombers because there is evidence of a weakened bond between brothers. Although Dzhokhar had strong ties to conventional norms and values, being under his brother's influence weakened at least one of his ties, which led him to become part of his brother's plan..
