Introduction The purpose of this report is to examine the application of organization within a large organization. The company studied will be Telecom Group as this particular organization is well known all over the world. Telecom originated in 1865 as the "Telegraph Department" issued by the New Zealand government. They later merged with the New Zealand Post Office and over the next hundred years installed, maintained and operated a nationwide wired telephone network. To this day, Telecom remains one of New Zealand's largest, oldest, but most importantly, popular companies. They were responsible for bringing telecommunications into the homes and businesses of New Zealanders as they had no competition thanks to government regulations. This report provides both an environmental and organizational framework, as well as a detailed discussion of two concepts. These concepts are traditional organizational structures that allow people to excel by specializing in a particular job and developments in organizational structures where competitive strategies place increasing pressures on organizational structures. STEPPP Analysis Social • Changing working patterns Many people operate from home, which suggests demand for Telecom communications services will increase. Customers will want services to be readily available. • Going green People are becoming greener and greener. This makes it difficult for telcos to comply as the infrastructure needed for the business to operate emits carbon emissions. Technological • Production of communication devices The production of communication devices is being produced at an ever-increasing rate. Telecom must ensure that its services are able to adapt to new products which are...... middle of paper...... bear the consequences. Due to the deviation of decisions made by managers, business enterprises may be outsourced to unreliable suppliers. There is no ongoing oversight and management contracts ignore hidden costs and the impact on existing staff causing potential problems. Conclusion In conclusion, organizational management skill is one that is commonly applied to different aspects of a business. In particular, Telecom is a great example of a company that uses organization in its day-to-day business needs. Two important concepts involved are traditional organizational structures and developments in organizational structures. Therefore, organization is a vital skill within the management process.
