In a parallel dimension, you only open your eyes to darkness. Pure and unadulterated surrounding darkness. Not the darkness per say, but the darkness that comes from the inability to embrace the light that comes from being blind. In a parallel dimension, if everyone were blind (born or created), perception of the world would cease to exist. However, while perception would greatly influence knowledge claims, limited perception would also force a sense of camaraderie between people, however much their internal thoughts may guide them. A person walks along a blade of grass, using a stick to touch the compacted earth and feel for pitfalls common to the region. Along the path he hears sweet sounds and soft thuds of something coming towards him. A solar ping lights up and travels back to reveal a long, slender silhouette just a little wide. The person knows that the object is his friend Steve, so he stops and taps the stick three times to alert the other male.
