CREATIVE SKILLS PROFILE REVIEW There are differences between a licensed professional counselor and a licensed marriage and family therapist. Testing is an important factor in accurately assessing the full extent of care a client can receive. Depending on the client's needs, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) may be best suited. Considering existing tests, one sample population that LMFTs are likely to work with is children. Development is always an important factor in children with intellectual or behavioral problems. A dynamic test regarding this factor is the Profile of Creative Abilities (PCA). The Profile of Creative Abilities (PCA) includes two subtests (drawing and groups) and 2 rating scales (a home along with a school module) that are assumed to measure “creative abilities, domain-relevant skills, domain-relevant skills creativity and intrinsic motivation for the task of scholars aged between 5 and 14-11" (examiner's manual, p. 5). The placement test includes eight stimuli with instructions for that child to take a picture. To encourage an innovative element to the task, the child is specifically expected to "draw a picture that no one else would think of" (examiner's manual, p. 5). The subtest score depends on Guilford's (1959) creativity and analyzes subsequent elements: amount of new elements inserted into the picture, originality, whether the drawing is modified through position or location, and whether the child's drawing provides perspective. This is untimed. The home and educational rating scales are the same 36-item forms with a 4-point Likert scale depending on how often the child displays each behavior or characteristic.
