The first court hearing that was observed was of a young mother who appeared to be in her twenties, her son was taken from her when he was an infant. The reason he was taken away due to his mother's abuse and drug addiction is that the court gave this young woman many chances to turn her life around. The first order he was given was to attend a parenting course, pay child support and get off drugs. The mother had a total of two years to comply with any order given to her by the judge, but she did not comply. As a result, the young mother risks losing her parental rights. Therefore, if parents show no interest in their child, it is likely that the child will be placed with a family that provides and is adequate.
