Homosexuality can be traced throughout history. In ancient Rome, philosophers, such as Socrates, had sexual relations with their students. They believed it was part of becoming a man. The Bible, one of the oldest books in literature, discusses homosexual practices among the citizens of Sodom and Gomorrah. Some of the most influential people throughout history were found to be homosexuals: Susan B. Anthony, William Shakespeare, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Tennessee Williams. Homosexuality is global and has a global impact on society; transcends borders, cultures and governments. Homosexual society also carries its own international flag, a rainbow that indicates the bond between different people around the world. The company shows how peace can be achieved throughout the world, an issue that is close to everyone's hearts. The global impact that homosexuals have on society is the reason to study their behavior and discover the factors that may cause their sexual orientation. Society wants to know what drives a person to become homosexual and whether or not it can be changed. Research on sexual orientation is critical to discovering answers and information relevant to the world. Researchers are focusing on three factors that can determine homosexuality: genetic structure, neurological development and environmental factors. Research on sexual orientation has been going on for many decades. Researchers around the world are trying to answer difficult questions and make discoveries. In 1940, a study was conducted on 1700 homosexuals in which the majority of homosexuals believed that their sexual orientation was based primarily on social and environmental influences (Cameron 2).
