More literature and media should be censored in the eyes of the public. In recent years children have been subjected to crude television that has not been adequately censored and could potentially influence them to act in unacceptable ways. Censorship is the act of suppressing unacceptable parts of literature and media. Very often censorship is used against literature or media because many people see parts of it that are inappropriate from their perspective. When people see them, they are disgusted and wish they didn't see what they had. Many who oppose censorship argue that censorship is a violation of the First Amendment of the Constitution, which states "Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press" ("Freedom of the Press"). . That people should regulate media content on their own terms by choosing to watch and/or read it or not. Although many live shows do not have the ability to be censored as they are not recorded. People believe that uncensored media and literature could negatively influence children and how they may act. Many believe that sexual content, swearing, crude behavior, and nudity should be censored because they are distasteful to many people and are not seen as real literature ("Television Rules of Decency"). In more recent years, the press has focused on the lives of celebrities. When they do this, they negatively affect stardom and the lives of fans. While celebrities are hurt due to rumors spread by the press, fans see their celebrities using drugs to escape their pain. Seeing someone they use as a role model use drugs, they imitate him and hurt themselves in the process.
