Walt Disney and Walter Lee YoungerWalter Elias Disney and Walter Lee Younger were dreamers. Both have faced difficulties in trying to achieve their goals. Disney worked hard to achieve every goal he set for himself, no matter what difficulties stood in his way. Younger had clear and precise steps to achieve his dream, even if it was out of his reach. While both Disney and Younger have worked hard to make their dreams come true, they aren't very similar. Walter Elias Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Hermosa, Illinois. Together, he and his brother would co-found Walt Disney Productions. Disney grew up in Marceline, Missouri with his mother, father, three brothers and one sister. In 1911 they moved to Kansas City. Thanks to his uncle Mike Martin's career as a railroad engineer, Disney developed his love of trains. In 1917, the Disney family moved to Chicago where Disney attended McKinley High School. He took drawing and photography lessons and drew for the school newspaper. He also took classes at the Chicago Art Institute. At the young age of sixteen he dropped out of school. He initially wanted to join the army but, after being rejected because he was underage, he instead joined the Red Cross. He was sent to France and drove an ambulance there for a year. He returned to the United States in 1919 to Kansas City where he worked as a newspaper artist. Walt's brother Roy found him a job at the Pesmen-Rubin Art Studio working with Ubbe Iwerks, a famous cartoonist. In January 1920, Walt Disney and Ubbe Iwerks created the Iwerks-Disney Commercial Artists. Disney leaves early to make money for the company, and the short-lived company collapses due to Iwerk's inability to manage it himself. Walt accepted his next job at... middle of paper... it's Younger's dream. After some complaints, Younger was given the money he needed while Disney was given nothing. The most obvious difference between Disney and Younger is that Disney's dream came true and Younger's, unfortunately, did not. Despite their differences, Younger and Disney are still similar in some aspects. They both trusted other people with their dreams. Younger trusted his business partners to get permission and help him realize his dreams. Disney trusted his brother Roy and partner Iwerks to help him realize his dreams. Despite numerous obstacles, including failure, they remained by his side and helped him. Additionally, both Younger and Disney faced many obstacles in achieving their dreams. Younger had to deal with not having the initial investment to open his shop. Disney faced bankruptcy and the inability to obtain distributors for its pieces.
