When managers are able to communicate effectively with employees, it shows that they care and allow employees to come to them if there is a problem. Both leaders and employees must be able to recognize the triggers that cause workplace bullying (Smith, 2012). Leaders should be able to notice behaviors that could cause problems in the workplace. The more leaders are involved with employees, the fewer bullying incidents will occur. Companies must have workplace policies that prohibit this type of behavior and must ensure that employees understand these policies (Smith, 2012). Employees should also know how to report the incident and how to take action (Smith, 2012). Enforcement is critical when an incident occurs because employees will think twice before engaging in these types of incidents
