The telenovela is about a woman whose days consist of taking care of her plants, managing the house, taking care of her children and above all taking care of her husband. Victoria also needs to stay young and beautiful. In episode five, Victoria goes to the beauty salon and is laughed at by a person for looking old and fat. Women's insecurities play an important role in this soap opera and explain the decisions her husband later makes. Her eldest daughter despises her for deciding to remain a housewife for the rest of her life. Her husband gets tired of their monotonous life and has an affair for two years. When Victoria learns of the affair, her husband decides to leave her and goes to live with his lover, who is twenty years younger than Victoria. Victoria's mother and children blame her for the breakup of her marriage and do not allow her to find new love. In episode one of Victoria, Victoria goes to celebrate the birthday of one of her friends, Camila. The main theme of the discussion was that birthdays should not be celebrated because they age, but it is a reality that everyone fears. In the same episode there is another character who helps show the double standards in society. Camila is Victoria's friend and is perceived as a whore because she is old, single and likes younger men. While with her friends, Camila starts discussing how she is having intimacy with her doctor and personal trainer. Victoria and her other friend find Camila's relationships scandalous and out of the norm, but seem to ignore the fact that Camila is a single woman. Camila carries the stigma of being older and single with dignity, instead of feeling ashamed, she embraces her situation and behaves more outrageously. This double standard goes back to Richard's idea of women's natural place
