Nick GiamelloMr. JoergPeriod 9/102 May 2013Gun ControlGun control in the United States has gotten out of control. The United States should enforce laws to not allow the use of firearms in a home in order to reduce violence and crime in the country. Reducing the crime rate in the United States, controlling heavy weapons, taxing ammunition, and collecting guns can help make this happen. Gun control can make this country a safer environment to live in. Gun control has obviously gotten out of control in recent years. Look around, they are everywhere. Reducing the crime rate in the United States would make the country a better place to live. In the past and present, mass shootings have impacted America. The Virginia Tech shooting killed 33 teachers and students (Bowman). In 1999, the Columbine High School shooting killed dozens of people (Bowman). In 2011, the Tucson shooting is another example. The most recent shooting was at Sandy Hook Elementary School that killed 20 children. All of these shootings are examples of mass shootings due to a lack of gun control. If Congress passed a law that would not allow guns in any home, the crime rate in the United States would drop dramatically. People in today's world are going completely crazy. Shooting people, killing people, committing crimes, whatever they can do to feel good about themselves. Taking the lives of innocent people and children is absolutely insane and seems to continue to happen more and more. Taking the weapons out of their hands will prevent worse things from happening. Everyone knows the bad parts of the country. Philly, Camden, Detroit, these are all examples of tough areas. Cities like these are bad because of gangs, mafia and other gangs that relate... middle of paper... k security, heavy weapons and explosives, a bomb exploded. This is not entirely the fault of congresses, but if they had stricter gun laws, there is a chance that mass shootings, bombings, and other terrorist events would not occur. Ultimately, compared to the past, weapons are less expensive yet more deadly (Bowman). Firearms are a hundred times more advanced but cost more. The government really needs to look into this whole topic. Guns have taken over the streets of major cities and if Congress doesn't realize what is happening, the entire country will be armed. The United States should enforce laws to ban guns in the home to reduce violence and crime in our country. If they realized this by controlling big guns, taxing ammunition, and collecting guns, the crime rate in the United States would be greatly reduced.
