Nurses Young adults are often asked what they believe success is. Many say the typical answers like how much money you make, your job, and what materialistic items you own. Success is a frequently used word in today's society and is mainly related to money. The key to happiness may be success because if you love your career, you will be successful doing something you love. One career recognized as successful is the profession of professional nurse due to its high educational achievements, numerous benefits, and high job demand. “Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are advanced practice nurses who provide care to patients throughout their lives, from premature infants to the elderly.” (Georgetown par 1)Becoming a registered nurse is not as simple as it seems as a profession. To be a professional nurse you must earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). This takes four years for a full-time student. After completing your BSN, you must acquire a master's degree in nursing or a doctorate in nursing practice. By following these courses, you must choose a specialty. Graduate schools often require its students to have a couple of years of experience as an RN before entering their program. Training is very important to becoming an NP, and some nurses pursue a year-long residency. Nurse practitioners must be certified by the state in which they will practice. To obtain this license you must have an approved training program, a board certification, and a passing state assessment result. To complete all this it will take seven to eight years to finish all your studies and graduate. That said, becoming a nurse practitioner is… halfway… working regularly during business hours. The following graph indicates how people feel about being cared for by a nurse instead of another healthcare professional. As we can see from the graph, the nursing profession is on the rise and promises to become even stronger in the years to come as people become more comfortable with this career. Success is defined as achieving your goals. A goal that would be wonderful to achieve would be to graduate as a professional nurse. Not only does it sound like an interesting profession, but it is ranked fourth among the best jobs in America by CNN Money.
