Topic > On-Campus Child Care Centers - 659

Going to college can present challenges for students and staff. The added weight of children can make the experience more overwhelming. Juggling parenting and schoolwork can be difficult. Child care centers on campus allow students and staff to be convinced that they offer reliable, quality care. Dyersburg State and its students will benefit from opening a child care center as it would provide stability, financial and educational benefits to university staff and students. The provision of child care services can positively change the dynamics of the DSCC. Having a child care center on campus will provide parents with a convenient location and peace of mind. In return, DSCC will benefit from recruiting staff and students with childcare responsibilities. Even when public schools are closed, parents and staff would have a safe place for their children to hang out without worrying about what they are doing or who they are with. The on-campus center will help parents minimize the multiple adverse factors associated with off-campus child care. For example, it eliminates the need to travel a lot and ensures that, in the event of an emergency, the child is more available to be picked up quickly. The center allows parents to continue their education to better themselves and better provide for their children, while easing tension by allowing for greater success in the classroom. Parent/student graduation rates will increase due to these factors. When considering changes, you need to ask yourself if the change is financially sound. DSCC would benefit financially from having a child care center on campus, as well as its students and staff. The college itself would open up new revenue to the college. The financial gain would not only come from the weekly fee to keep the center open, but also… from the paper medium… from memorization and intense work on the textbooks currently offered in the classroom. Don't forget the children. Children would benefit from free basic health screenings and the best possible education, thanks to data collected from studying their learning habits. Educational objectives aimed at providing the most up-to-date and cutting-edge learning experience, across a wide range of fields, would strengthen the colleges' image of providing the best possible education to all parties involved, as well as reaching the future generation of students. As the job market changes, more adults are required to return to college to gain the educational skills needed to obtain a career. With child care being an important issue for most adults, a child care faculty would eliminate the burdens associated with child care, such as stability, financial and educational benefits for all parties involved.
