Everyone has watched an NFL game and already seen a great success. This is one of the reasons why people love the game, but the NFL is trying to make the game safer with safer equipment and making new rules, but some people believe it is ruining the sport. With new safety regulations and safer equipment there will likely be fewer injuries in the NFL and in any game, from college to high school or even little league. The game of football has become safer in recent years and is helping to reduce the number of accidents and risk of injury. Thanks to the new safety technology, they will not only be safer while playing, but they will also be healthier after playing. Aikman praised the NFL for its recent decision to perform baseline tests on all players in training camp so the league can later determine whether their brains were damaged by blows to the head. (“Aikman…”). With the new tests, players will be better equipped and prepared before and after their football career. Many football players suffer brain injuries, which is why they need better safety equipment. Each season, approximately 20% of high school players suffer brain injuries (“Lanham”). Safety equipment is also becoming more and more advanced. Helmets are getting better, but they are better at protecting the skull than the brain inside ("Death of football..."). The Children's Sports Athletic Equipment Safety Act was created in light of the fact that there are no federal guidelines for either new or used helmets that formally test against forces believed to cause concussions (“Lanham”).
