Our Session Long Project (SLP) for Module 1 turns the evaluation essay into a job evaluation. The type of job evaluation used in this SLP identifies job responsibilities and bases the individual's performance on those responsibilities. What does this mean for the employee; It means that if they understand the responsibilities of their job they will be better able to carry it out to the evaluator's satisfaction. However, employees who are not informed of their responsibilities can invalidate the evaluation process very quickly and cause chaos in any organization. During this time, each year, as a senior enlisted hospital corpsman E-9, I am responsible for writing performance evaluations and advising all of my E-8 and E-7 personnel on their completed evaluation. Midway through the annual evaluation cycle I conduct a formal interim performance review to discuss individuals' strengths and weaknesses in relation to the scope of their work. The interim performance review combined with individual input and my observations using the organization's cause and effect model allows me to complete 10 to 25 equally graded job evaluations (Friedlander, n.d.).
