This document provides a review of the last two reports of the Auditor General of Belize, specifically for the years 2010 and 2011; this was done with the aim of evaluating to what extent the issues identified for improvements were resolved and what international guiding principles, if any, were used in the preparation of the reports. To determine this, a comparison between the two reports needed to be made to identify the most obvious problems in the first report and note whether they were repeated in the subsequent period. It examined issues regarding compliance with financial regulations, accountability and accountability arising from the Auditor General's report and current approaches in which it can be improved. Introduction The Office of the Auditor General was established under Section 109 of the Constitution of Belize, Chapter 4 of the Laws of Belize, Revised Edition 2000. The Office of the Auditor General is managed by the Auditor General appointed by the Governor General, acting on recommendation of both Houses of the National Assembly. The Office of the Auditor General in carrying out its mandate, examines all the accounts that fall within the competence of ministries, departments and other public authorities as prescribed by law. In accordance with Section 120 (4) of the Constitution of Belize and Section 16 (1) of the Finance and Audit (Reform) Act No. 12 of 2005, the Auditor General is responsible for preparing an annual report documenting significant findings for each financial year and presenting this report to the National Assembly.
