Topic > European Colonialism: Civilization in Ruin - 1481

European colonialism has existed since the late 15th century, and its model of colonialism will exist for many years to come. Colonization could be considered to have begun as early as the ancient civilizations of Egypt, Greece and Rome. However, this model of colonization was not as deadly as the European model (Louis). Ancient civilizations educated, advanced, and motivated their colonies to succeed. The European model falls well short of the standards set in past years. This model of colonialism begins in the late 1400s, when Great Britain began its reign over Ireland and Portugal with Spain began its conquest of the Americas. Since this model currently exists, the mother state establishes satellite states that provide resources to the mother country. The mother country then produces the final products and resells them to the satellite state. This will ultimately bleed the satellite country dry by depriving it of resources and economic means.
