Topic > What is Leadership Success - 922

Historically, leadership skills have been the source of many research projects and white papers. One of these focuses has been on the three competencies approach suggested by Katz many years ago (Northouse, 2013). The following analysis of Andy Garafollo and his management will be based on the three skills approach: technical, human and conceptual. Since Andy has three completely different managers: Kelly, Danielle and Patrick, it will be important for him to understand each of them. your abilities, strengths and opportunities. Northouse (2013) suggests that competencies are the qualities a leader draws on to achieve specific goals. Additionally, the level of management in the organization will indicate the mix of skills needed for a manager to be effective. (Northouse, 2013). Therefore, in the lower-level management role held by these three managers, they must focus on the technical and human aspects of their approaches. Kelly Kelly has great technical skills, as she is efficient in all task-focused activities. As Northouse (2013) presents “technical skills play an essential role in producing the actual products that a company is designed to produce” (P. 44). As such, Andy witnessed Kelly's strong ability to place accurate orders and fulfill the preparation tasks necessary to achieve a quality product. However, she lacks the human skills aspect of managing the respective department. Andy observed his shortcomings in getting along with other departments and working well with others. Researcher Morand (2001) states that “the ability to get along, develop trusting relationships, and communicate effectively with others comprises a set of skills long believed to be central to the task of management” (p. 21 ). Really, in... middle of paper... it helps in this field of operations. As a coach and teacher to his supporting management team, he is expected to work with Kelly, Danielle and Patrick to help them develop the skills needed to keep him informed of the company's day-to-day operations. Honestly, its focus should remain on the conceptual level to maintain its competitive edge in the market. Ultimately, Andy has developed a management team that, in the future, will need him to use his coaching and teaching skills to develop each manager's areas of weakness. As the company continues to remain competitive, it is important for Andy to focus on the conceptual aspects of business development and customer service. Ultimately, Andy's leadership approach skills and expertise have made the company what it is today and will help it do so in the future with continued success.
