The question of whether senior drivers should have senior or "S" license plates on their cars while driving has been the subject of much discussion. This issue is relevant to today's society as it has become a very controversial topic with many people having different views and the population of older drivers is also increasing due to the more widespread availability of cars. Currently, in Australia, there are 'L' and 'P' number plates for novice and provisional drivers, so, should senior drivers have 'S' number plates too? All Australian states have license plates to distinguish between learner and provisional drivers. The plates are intended to help inform other drivers that the person in the car may be less experienced and make more mistakes than a fully licensed driver, therefore warning other road users to be more cautious around them.
