In today's global market, more than before, multinational enterprises [MNEs] have expanded their operations internationally. This rapid growth requires adequate staffing to manage new units abroad. Leadership of these new units and of multinationals in general requires a global mindset. “Every unit requires leaders who can navigate economic complexities, cultural ambiguities, and political challenges” (Daniels, 2013) while managing an efficient and productive unit. Multinational corporations need staff with experience and knowledge of international business to be able to successfully manage a unit. There is a lack of leaders on the world stage. There are many reasons why pursuing international business is the right thing to do, huge growth potential and high demand are just to name two. Being the leader of an international business unit brings benefits such as job satisfaction and a better life experience. On the other hand, there may be some disadvantages of being away from home, such as being forgotten by the home office and being downgraded once you return home, and a high turnaround rate. There is no doubt that as there is more and more, globalization is happening. faster than ever and is creating strong demand for global thinking. Knowledge of international business also brings a huge opportunity for growth as multinationals expand into different markets. There are pros and cons to taking on a global leadership position. There will potentially be great job satisfaction including, but not limited to, better pay and benefits. On the other hand, being far from the home office could be a disadvantage for repatriates seeking positions within the home office. Careful planning is needed by the country's leaders to avoid looking back when returning home. Overall, the pros outweigh the cons and the outlook for the repatriated executive is very bright and positive
