To Kill a Mockingbird is the novel written by acclaimed author Harper Lee. Examines issues of race and class in the 1930s. Scout Finch, who is the main character, shares her opinions on the situations around her. I enjoyed reading this fascinating novel. What I discovered in this story is that sometimes you need to put yourself in other people's shoes. Because the big thing about this book is that I couldn't figure out why it was called "To Kill a Mockingbird." This has genuine meaning. When Atticus gives his children air rifles, he quotes "Shoot all the blue jays you want, if you can hit them, but remember it's a shame to kill a mockingbird." Explain that thrushes are harmless and innocent creatures, and defeating them is wrong, because they do not offend anyone. This was quoted by Scout's neighbor, Mrs. Maudie Atkinson: “Thrushes do nothing but create music for us to savor they sing their hearts out to us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." Although killing a mockingbird over the hedge is a sin, it has another metaphorical meaning. Anyone who is weaker or defenseless than you is taking advantage of someone who is weaker than you. A another interesting character in the book was Arthur “Boo” Radley, Scout's neighbor. The family who lives across the street from the scout house is the Radley family. The kids in town nickname him Boo after a certain ghost raw about what he does and what he looks like. Scouts' older brother, Jem, said, "Boo was about six and a half feet tall, judging by his tracks; he dined on raw squirrels and all the cats he could catch, that's why his hands were stained with blood. There was a long jagged tooth scar that... middle of paper... I try my best to love everyone... I'm difficult sometimes, it's never an insult to be called what someone thinks is a bad name. It just shows you how poor that person is, it doesn't hurt you. Atticus's response shows what a calm and tolerant character he is. Accept everyone, regardless of race, color or creed. Those racial slurs heaped on him do not bother him, because Atticus points out that such accusations simply reflect unfavorably on the accusers, showing that they are prejudiced, ignorant, and narrow-minded. This is the sense in which these people are "poor". insults do nothing to hurt enlightened and righteous people like Atticus. I think this kind of behavior in New Zealand should be well recommended to everyone
